Meet Jon Fernan

Jonathan is excited and inspired every day to create challenging and expressive works in stone. The themes of Jonathan's work range from the natural world to the spiritual, in stones of turquoise, alabaster, honeycomb calcite, wonder stone, granite and marble. His work has been successfully shown and sold all around the East Coast, the demand rising every year.
Jonathan was born and raised in South Florida. His father was originally from British time you, his mother from Barry Wales. After a childhood spent on the beach and in the ocean, Jonathan enlisted in the US Army. Upon his completion of service, Jonathan created a process for silkscreening on leather which grew into a thriving business in which he sold to enroll at the Indiana University to study music.
After his professor retired, Jonathan left college to pursue a career in music and embarked on a 25 year journey around the world as a singer/songwriter. Jonathan still performs at local festivities in clubs where you can enjoy his original songs and unique style of fingerpicking on his nylon string guitar.
Jonathan's days on the road were numbered upon meeting his future wife, Ruth Hartman, an artist who creates one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces. This happy union led to a marriage and a second career for Jonathan and sculpture. He began taking classes with acclaimed Florida artists, Terry Thomas, and found a love of creating sculpture from stone as compelling as creating music and the rest is, as they say, history.
Jonathan spends his summers in Maine and winters in Florida.
